Class description

Autumn 2012: "Picasso."

This lecture course examines the long career of one of the great innovators of modern art from his beginnings as a precocious youth in the 1890s to his late style in the 1960s.

Student learning goals

General method of instruction

Lecture and discussion. Because discussion is an integral part of the course, class participation is vital to the success of the class as well as to your grade.

Recommended preparation

At least one 200-level art history course, preferably 203. Please contact the instructor if in doubt.

Two exams and two papers
