Topics in Studio Art and Practice

Examines a variety of cutting edge, emerging, and interdisciplinary approaches in studio art and practice. Topics vary.

Class description

Winter quarter 2013, the course topic will be woodblock prints. We will reference contemporary and historical examples and practices through museum and gallery visits. The course will address technical and conceptual issues with demonstrations and projects ranging from single to multiple blocks, editions as well as unique prints, and both black and white and color inks.

General method of instruction

Hands-on instruction, demonstrations, critiques and exercises.

Recommended preparation

No prerequisites, but a background in drawing and/or design is beneficial.
