Class description
Commissions: The Artist / Client Process ART 329 Winter Quarter 2005 An innovative course that will provide School of Art students with valuable career development experiences through direct work with an art patron. Open to advanced studio art majors by portfolio review, the class pairs sponsors as “clients” and students as “artists”. Each pair works together – from the initial consultation to presentation of the finished commission. Students will design a custom carpet for a location identified by their sponsor. With oversight by Professor Goldsmith, designs are sent to Nepal to be hand-woven. When the carpets are complete, they will be shown in a group exhibition. The carpets will then presented to their respective sponsors.
