Intermediate Photomedia I

Includes studio projects examining the expressive and conceptual uses of alternative photographic materials and techniques. May include and introduction to photography, large format, and studio lighting. Prerequisite: ART 140.

Class description

Students will learn basic wet darkroom techniques- ie enlarging, developing, dodging & brning. They will be introduced to exposure controls & basci camera functions.

General method of instruction

Critique, lecture, lab & demonstrations.

Recommended preparation

Autumn Quarter: Photo majors with prerequisites only Winter & Spring Quarters: Art majors with prerequisites only Summer Quarter: No art or photographic background necessary

Class assignments and grading

Assignments are designed to emphasize individual & creative responses to an idea.

Quality & Quantity of assigned work, as well as participation in discussions and critiques.
