Historical survey of the architecture of Western civilization. For nonmajors.
Class description
This 5-week (Term A only) course is an introduction to the history of Western architecture from the height of the Italian Renaissance, circa 1500, to the twenty-first century.
Student learning goals
1. Appreciate the various types of physical structures and urban spaces in our surroundings
2. Understand architecture's value in society
3. Apply the observational techniques and critical thinking strategies presented through the study of past cultures
