Class description

Critical Reflections on the Anthropology of the Middle East: This graduate seminar will explore a range of issues related to the production of anthropological knowledge about the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions. While studying contemporary ethnographies of the MENA region, we will also examine how anthropologists and others have produced ways of knowing about the Middle East, including gender, race and ethnicity, history, and politics.
