Delineation and analysis of a specific problem or related problems in anthropology. Offered occasionally by visitors or resident faculty.
Class description
This special topics course focuses on a critical reading of Karl Marx including Volume I of Capital and The Grundrisse. We will also read a variety of contemporary interlocutors including Sylvia Federici and Harry Cleaver. Finally, we will address the enduring relevance and significance of Marx in the history of anthropology and the rise of various critical anthropologies.

Discussion seminar with very few lectures by the professor and a focus on presentations by students focused on criticizing the course readings.
