Class description
In this course students will volunteer for community service. Service will be performed in institutions that have "identity" as some aspect of their stated or implied mission.
Student learning goals
General method of instruction
Our class will meet once a week to discuss volunteer experiences. Students will keep service diaries and notes on their experience with community service.
Recommended preparation
Identities: Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality in Anthropology (Anth 228) is recomended preparation for the course. Admittance to the course is also with permission of instructor and other relevant background will be considered.
Class assignments and grading
Community service, writing.
Instructor evaluation, organization evaluation, and self-evaluation.
