Topics in Ancient/Medieval History

Examines special topics in ancient/medieval history.

Class description

Introductory survey of Tudor England from the accession of Henry VII in 1485 to the death of Elizabeth I in 1603. Topics include the political and personal history of Tudors, the Protestant Reformation, the English Renaissance, exploration and trade, and aspects of popular culture including the witch-hunting craze.

General method of instruction

Lecture and discussion of primary sources.

Recommended preparation

No prerequisites.

Class assignments and grading

Two 5 page papers, a midterm, and a final exam.

Grading and assignments will be described in the syllabus.
