Introduction to the theory of cost accounting; job order, process, and standard cost systems; overhead accounting; problems in accumulation and allocation of costs; decision making with cost data. Prerequisite: 2.0 in ACCTG 301; may not be repeated.
Class description
This course will provide students with the concepts and tools needed to compute, interpret, and analyze cost information for decision making.

80% class lecture, 20% class discussion Three case assignments in course.
Recommended preparation
Course is demanding of student's time. A good foundation from Intro. Managerial Acctg. should provide the necessary preparation. Completing the homework assignments during the quarter is essential.
Class assignments and grading
Problems and short essays from the text. There are three cases assigned during the quarter--one is discussed in class and the other two involve case papers (team project). For Spring quarter, one of the cases will be provided by the Boeing Company. You will be required to write up the case and submit it for the Boeing writing competition.
Course grade is determined by the total number of points that are earned throughout the quarter. There will be 7 quizzes, 2 case papers, a midterm, and a comprehesive final exam. See my web page for further info.
