Provides opportunity to learn about publishing a literary journal by publishing the UWB Literary Journal. Students gain skills in communication, assessing and editing literary texts, layout design, technology for creating and disseminating multi-media work, project management, and teamwork. Credit/no credit only.
Class description
Students will gain skills in: • communication as they recruit writers, solicit submissions and provide feedback to authors • reading, assessing and editing literary texts • design and layout using a variety of electronic media • technology • project management • team work

General method of instruction
The class will meet biweekly for 2 hours. Students will communicate between meetings via BlackBoard.

Class assignments and grading
The Spring quarter will begin with review and selection of submissions to journal, work with authors on revision, and preparation of the hardcopy and web-based manuscript using InDesign, Photoshop and appropriate software for audio and video contributions. Students will plan a public roll out of the journal, including readings by contributors, and will distribute the journal on campus and to college libraries nationally.
Credit will be awarded on the basis of completion of all assigned work.
