Topics in Law, Economics, and Public Policy

Examines a topic, theme, or problem at the intersection of law, economics, and public policy.

Class description

The environmental consequences of land use and development in America, the competing policy recommendations formulated to address these problems, the range of regulatory laws and other policy measures adopted by legislatures and agencies, and the role of courts in implementing these laws and deciding constitutional challenges. Topics include coastal zones, wetlands, wildlife habitat, agriculture, forestry, mining and drilling, watersheds, public lands, energy use, urban sprawl and sustainable development.
