Develops a theoretical and practical understanding of arts-practices in relation to a selected community context. Engages in a specific project at an educational, social service, or arts organization, or in an arts-project that works across communities.
Class description
This course will cover arts learning in the community in the context of arts and the law. Three interconnected community projects will be developed: 1)Augusto Boal's Legislative Theatre, 2) Rashomon Project, a theatrical consideration of legal challenges from multiple perspectives, and 3) the issue of cultural expression and the law.
This work will lead to three mini-exhibits in the community.

understanding of the Rashomon efffect and how to use it as a device for staging stories,
understanding of issues related to cultural expression and the law,
