Arts Workshop

Explores how art is made in specified areas of inquiry, genre, or media. Arts may include visual, written, or performance arts, or a combination of these.

Class description

Dance and Architecture Workshop; Interdisicplinary Workshop exploring the links between dance, architecture and site-specific performance. Will draw from the work of Rudolf Laban on the architecture of the body and related impovisational approaches, architecture as a cartography of the built environment, and experimentation with simple large scale sculptures which create temporary landscapes for short dance work. Will an introduction to the history and practices of dance and architecture in diverse cultural contexts.

Participatory workshop classes, a final performance with film, and a five page final essay due two weeks after the course are mandatory.
