Study of special topics in interdisciplinary arts and sciences. Prerequisite: BIS 300.
Class description
This course will explore ways in which new theories of science that go by such names as systems and complexity theory might provide new perspectives for understanding global history.

This is the capstone seminar for graduating seniors in IAS.
Class assignments and grading
Students will be expected to write a short, one-page essay for each week's reading, prepare a 5-page annotated bibliography, write a 15-page research paper, and give a short oral presentation on the research topic covered in the paper.
Class participation, bibliography, weekly papers, oral presentation, and final paper.
