Student design and implement research projects on interdisciplinary education and student life with reference to their IAS education.

Class description

Fall, 2003: We'll be covering mathematics in the media. We'll look at how mathematics comes up, is used, and abused in the media including newspapers, movies, television.

General method of instruction

This course uses a lot of in-class group work to discover and investigate mathematical concepts.

Recommended preparation

There are no mathematics prerequisits for this course just a willingness to think about problems and see mathematics in new lights.
