Literature, Film and Consumer Culture

Explores innovative approaches to the study of literature and film in the age of consumer culture. Focuses on literary and cinematic communication as an important arena for the constitution of modern subjectivity and personal identity.

Class description

Basic and advanced analysis of advertisement, film and literature; study and application of theoretical approaches to mass media.

General method of instruction

Comprehensive midterm and final; three-page argumentative paper.
