Karen M Gourd
B EDUC 591
Bothell Campus
Class description
This course will focus on ELLs and families. Content includes an introduction to second language (and culture) acquisition theory, instruction focusing on meeting the needs of ELLs in general education (K-12) and working with families. Approximately 6 hours of community-based work with ELLs will be integrated into the course schedule. For example, rather than meeting on campus for some course sessions, we will meet at a community-based organization and use some of the strategies from class to teach ELLs.
This course will also include competencies required for an endorsement in ELL (no program currently available at UWB but plans are underway for developing one) and competencies required for the reading endorsement option for the MEd. at UWB.
