Race, Culture, and Identity in the Classroom

Examines the ways that various aspects of student identity are entwined with pedagogy and curriculum. Focuses on multicultural education, the politics of language, racism and testing, cultural identity development, and classroom diversity. Prerequisite: either B EDUC 220 or B EDUC 230.

Class description

"Race, Culture, & Identity in the Classroom" will look at the relationship between the content of the curriculum, teachers' practices, and students' identities. Specifically this course will cover issues associated with multicultural education, multicultural curriculum, and teaching for social justice.
