Develops skills in a variety of studio arts in order to enhance student ability as a performer, arts creator, educator, or in applied areas of creativity.
Class description
Students will expand their knowledge of ballet and modern dance techniques through bi-weekly practice. Moreover, students will learn about the history of dance as a theatrical artform.

General method of instruction
The method of instruction will focus largely on the physical dance practice, learning the dance terminology and how to execute the movements. There will also be some time devoted to lecture and discussion about reading assignments, as well as short written assignments based on the reading and/or technique.
Recommended preparation
A willingness to move and learn is essential to be successful in this course
Class assignments and grading
Grades will be based mostly on active participation in the classroom, in both the dance portions and the "lecture/discussion" portions of the course. Grades will also be determined by the quality of the written assignments students will submit throughout the quarter.
