Provides a practice setting to use quantitative tools and techniques introduced during the general chemistry lecture. Allows students to sharpen the reasoning necessary for use in science courses. Includes questions, lecture, and text review, and additional practice problems highlighting the conceptual and quantitative material. Offered: concurrently with B CUSP 142, B CUSP 152, and B CUSP 162; AWSpS.
Class description
This class will be run in parallel to the appropriate general chemistry class. Topics covered in the lecture class will be supported via problem solving and discussions about important concepts.
Student learning goals
Student will further develop understanding of key chemistry topics.
Student will be better able to apply problem solving skills to chemistry related questions.
General method of instruction
This class will mostly focus on working on chemistry problems related to the topics covered in the appropriate lecture class. This will include explanation by the instructor as well as practice of problem solving skills related to chemistry.
Recommended preparation
Class assignments and grading
There are few if any outside of class assignments beyond was is required for the general chemistry course.
Students are expected to attend class regularly in order to receive credit for this class.
