Class description
Non-profit organizations represent a key sector with increasing social and economic importance at local, national, and international levels. In this course, we will examine the nature and role of non-profits, primarily in the United States, including how the sector has evolved over time, what distinguishes it from the public and private sectors, and its capacity to promote individual well being and social change. We will also focus on non-profit governance and management issues, including leadership, ethics, funding, capacity building, and evaluation. We will draw upon the expertise of local leaders in the non-profit sector as well as case studies of organizations.
