New Technology and Future Markets

Examines the business dynamics of technological revolutions. The primary objective is to help managers critically analyze the potential impacts of upcoming "leading edge" technologies on their industry sector. Students engage in forecasting a high technology sector. Prerequisite: minimum grade of 1.7 in B BUS 300; B BSKL 300; minimum grade of 1.7 in B BUS 320; minimum grade of 1.7 in B BUS 350; may not be repeated.

Class description

This course teaches how to analyze and create future scenarios of areas within new industries (e.g. Life Sciences, Energy, Consumer Entertainment Devices, Nanotechnology). You also learn how to find the unclaimed opportunities for large, well funded companies and smaller startups, as well as the jobs and careers within these new niches.

Class assignments and grading

3 assignments Term Paper Major Presentation

The final presentation and project makes up most of the grade. Your industry forecast will be presented before outside experts.
