Alumni and Friends Take to the Water at Tall Ships Tacoma

Nearly 60 UW alumni and friends set sail last July 5 on the steamship Virginia V, the last surviving vessel from the famed "Mosquito Fleet." Built in 1922, the 125-foot Virginia V once carried freight and passengers from Vashon Island to Seattle and Tacoma. With the UW flag snapping in the breeze and the Tacoma skyline as a backdrop, guests enjoyed hours of fun and front-row views of mock sea skirmishes.

The voyage on the Virginia V was sponsored by UW Tacoma as part of the fifth annual Husky Summer Celebration—a series of special Husky events and programs hosted and planned all across the country. Don’t miss any of this year’s exciting, upcoming opportunities to reconnect with the University of Washington Tacoma!
