Spring Celebration of Service and Leadership
May 6, 2009

The Spring Celebration of Service and Leadership applauds undergraduates' dedication to service and leadership and the commitment of community partners and faculty to service learning.

The commitment of hundreds of students is honored through the stories of just a few. Students involved in service-learning, including through the Pipeline Project or Jumpstart, are recognized for their work connecting academic courses with community commitment. Students in Service AmeriCorps members, and Civic Fellows, including Carlson Fellows, Ellis Fellows, and Munro Fellows are recognized for their accomplishments and Mary Gates Leadership Scholars and the recipient of the Edward E. Carlson Student Leadership Award are honored. In addition, students involved in campus leadership and student activities participate in the celebration. There will also be a gallery of student projects and a reception.

The Spring Celebration is co-hosted by the Carlson Leadership & Public Service Center, Jumpstart, the Pipeline Project, and the Mary Gates Endowment for Students.

12th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium
May 15, 2009

Hundreds of undergraduates will present their research to a larger audience. The symposium also provides a forum for students, faculty and the community to discuss cutting-edge research topics and to learn about the impact students and faculty realize when undergraduates are integrated into the University’s vast research enterprise. The symposium includes poster and presentation sessions by students from all academic disciplines and all three UW campuses.
