Kimberly Balsam Gets '10 Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award 
  Research Assistant  Professor Kimberly Balsam has been honored by the American Psychological  Association with the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award, honors  distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to basic research in  psychology for the year. Dr. Balsam’s areas of research include the health  impact of stigma and discrimination; trauma; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and  transgender mental and physical health; and community-based prevention  strategies.

Stuart Foundation Grant for Partners for Our Children Web Portal 
  The  San Francisco-based Stuart Foundation plans to award a $100,000 grant to  support  the creation of a web-based data portal for child welfare indicators  and outcomes in Washington state, spearheaded by Dr. Benjamin de Haan,  executive director, and led by Matthew Orme of Partners for Our Children.  Through this initiative, timely and relevant data will be easily accessible by  child welfare administrators, managers and front line workers with data about  services, policy and program innovations; informing future adjustments and  trainings within the child welfare system. Providers, legislators and the  general public will also have information about how children and families in  Washington state are faring in accordance with federal and state mandates.
