A Welcome from the Dean

Dean Edwina Uehara
Dean Edwina Uehara

This year we look forward to sharing information with you about the ways our students and faculty members are connecting with others to solve persistent and pressing social problems. Our Annual Report (formerly known as The Forum alumni magazine), will feature some of the groundbreaking work under way in the School of Social Work community. Please look for it in your mailbox in the next few weeks. If you read something that particularly moves, challenges or informs you in some way, please drop me a line. I would love to hear from you!

As we begin a new academic year in very challenging budgetary times, we remain committed to excellence in social work education, research and service. The School is a recognized leader among schools of social work nationwide. Through the ongoing hard work of our staff and faculty—in partnership with our alumni and friends who so generously give of their time and their philanthropic dollars—we will sustain and strengthen that leadership in the years to come.

As much as I enjoy the conversations of our inspirational students and faculty that fill our hallways, I also look forward to seeing your faces and hearing your voices at this year’s events and lectures. Please visit us here at the School; and continue to keep connected via e-mail; or on the School’s Alumni Facebook page. Let us know all that’s new with you. Best wishes for a splendid autumn!

Warmest regards,

Edwina Uehara
