Micaela Leslie-Rule (‘10, M.P.H., Department of Global Health) and her thesis research on intimate-partner violence in Tanzania were featured in the June 24 issue of University Week. Micaela, who has a background as a performance artist, created a 10-minute film, Wanawake 8/8 Women, that debuted at the Zanzibar International Film Festival on July 16.

Following a national competition, Kailey Nelson (’10, M.P.H., Department of Epidemiology) was awarded a Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists Fellowship beginning in August.

Sholom Wacholder (’82, Ph.D., Department of Biomathematics) was featured in the June 2010 issue of the NCI Cancer Bulletin. Dr. Wacholder is a senior investigator in the Biostatistics Branch, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health. He works as an applied statistician in the NIH Intramural Research Program.

In May, Bahaa Wanly (’06, M.H.A., Department of Health Services) was selected as Harborview’s Manager of the Year. His nominators identified him as an exceptional leader, a dedicated role model, an outstanding mentor, and an excellent representative of Harborview's service standards.
