Diana Ceballos, postdoctoral fellow in DEOHS, received a scholarship at the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Northwest Occupational Health Conference in Vancouver, B.C., where she also presented her research on best glove practices for car painters.

Jeffrey Harris, professor in the Department of Health Services and director of the Health Promotion Research Center, was featured in a Seattle Magazine article titled "Health: Prevention Battles Disease and Care Costs." Congratulations to King Holmes, the William H. Foege Endowed Chair of the Department of Global Health, for receiving the 2010 Ned Behnke Leadership Award from Lifelong AIDS Alliance for his "exceptional vision and courage in promoting AIDS awareness in the community."

Laura Koutsky, professor in the Department of Epidemiology, was honored with the Seattle Girls’ School’s Grace Hopper Award for her two decades of research leading to the world’s first human papilloma virus vaccine, which helps prevent cervical cancer.

Sverre Vedal
Sverre Vedal

Austin Ross, professor emeritus in the Department of Health Services, was inducted into Modern Healthcare’s Hall of Fame on March 21, along with the late Sen. Ted Kennedy.

DEOHS Professor Sverre Vedal participated in a faculty exchange at the University of Bergen in Norway, where he used survey data to study the possible relationship between occupational exposure data and certain lung diseases.
