LSAMP logo

Students, professionals and government advocates from all over the Northwest committed to diversity in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields converged on the UW campus, Feb. 26-27, for the first annual Pacific Northwest Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (PNW LSAMP) Conference.

The two-day event was a professional development opportunity for PNW LSAMP students, and gave the region’s educators, researchers and corporate and government advocates a chance to network and share resources to help diversify the STEM fields.

The conference included a variety of sessions geared specifically towards students, staff and professionals, as well as a Gala Reception at the University of Washington Club, Friday evening. Among the topics covered included Why Diversity Matters in STEM, Building Community Among Undergraduate STEM-LSAMP Students and Careers in STEM.

The event was sponsored by the PNW LSAMP Alliance Institutions including UW, Boise State University, Oregon State University, Portland State University and Washington State University.
