Contributors Report cover

Descendents of the Bagley, Mercer, and Jenner families, who helped build the city of Seattle, gave boxes of letters, newspaper clippings, and photographs that provide great insight into the lives of these visionary settlers. Libraries Special Collections is honored to be the home to these important and, sometimes, personal documents
—including a letter from 1890 that Clarence B. Bagley wrote to his children from Ford’s Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Such historically rich and important materials add to the depth of the Libraries’ Pacific Northwest Collection as we preserve these fragile artifacts and make them accessible for research and study. Along with papers from senators and community members, the documented history of our region continues to grow.
