Literary Voices Supports Student Research Awards

Laura Brady
Laura Brady

Laura Brady, a senior in International Studies, is among a handful of winners in the 2008 Libraries Research Award for Undergraduates. Brady and two other students received the Friends of the Libraries Award and $1,000, funded by the Friends annual Literary Voices event. Brady's paper, Resisting the National Narrative: Charisma and the Venezuelan Cooperative Movement in the Context of the Bolivarian Revolution, was recognized in the annual competition of UW students who produce significant inquiry requiring use of information resources, the library and its collections. In all, nine awards and eight honorable mentions were given.

In addition to the Research Awards, proceeds from the Literary Voices annual dinner support preservation and acquisition of resources. This year’s dinner on April 25 features noted mystery writer J.A. Jance as keynote speaker.
