From the Dean

Dean Betsy Wilson

I often refer to the University Libraries as a “House of Stories.”

We at the Libraries have the privilege, the honor, and the responsibility of holding these stories and making them available to future generations of students, faculty and researchers.

From the oral histories of individuals from South Asia who came to Seattle to work in the aerospace industry in the 1960s, to historical photographs and materials from Seattle’s early Jewish community, to photographic documentation of historically important Russian structures on the other side of the world—we continue to build our “house” with stories of words, images, artifacts and electronic data.

I consider each of you a “co-author” in these stories thanks to the passion and partnership that you have created with the Libraries. With your ongoing commitment, the Libraries will continue to be at the literal and virtual crossroads of the University, as well as in the hearts and minds of our students.

Best,

Dean Betsy Wilson
