The Husky Band is thrilled to announce that current feature twirler, Catherine Watters, captured the title of College Miss Majorette of America at the collegiate twirling national championships held last July at the University of Notre Dame. Says Catherine, "The title of College Miss Majorette is an honor, but the realization of all of the hard work and dedication that has been put into this sport is a title and gratifying in itself." This prestigious award is the highest honor a collegiate twirler can be awarded and Catherine is the first Husky Feature Twirler to capture the title in its 41-year history. By virtue of her title, Catherine also earned a spot on the 2012 USA world twirling team that will compete April 3-8 at the World Twirling Championships in Neuchatel, Switzerland. There are four different events at world competition, and three girls from each country competing on each event; each team has 12 members. Catherine will be competing in the strutting category.

This title is a dream that Catherine has been striving to achieve since arriving at the UW four years ago, and all of us associated with the HMB are extremely proud of her and wish her the best of luck at the world competition this Spring.
