'Notes' from the Director
All I can say is "Wow!" For all of you who attended this year's annual "Husky Football Sneak Preview" in August, you know exactly what I'm talking about! The Husky Band Foundation has been holding this event for six years now to help raise funds to benefit the band's operating expenses. Last year the event reached our initial goal of $10,000. But this year, due to the incredible support from the 330 who attended, we raised over $22,000. I can't express enough just how helpful that figure is going to be in helping to offset the budget cuts the band experienced this year. The band not only benefitted from the evening's silent auction but all those in attendance got to hear from Volleyball Coach Jim McLaughlin, Softball Coach Heather Tarr, men's basketball coach Lorenzo Romar and of course, new head football coach Steve Sarkisian. Bob Rondeau once again graciously served as Master of Ceremonies and did a fabulous job of raising the evening's activities to a fever pitch.
If you couldn't make it this year, I hope you'll plan to mark your calendars next year as it will once again be scheduled for sometime during the third week of August (depending on the football team's practice schedule). You can always check the band's Web site, www.huskymarchingband.com, for the date of next year's Sneak Preview as well as all upcoming performances. A huge and most sincere thanks to all who supported the event and especially to board president Joe Roberts and members Mark and Cathy Freeman who once again chaired the organizing committee.
