Although the end of the academic year approaches, the news continues to move forward. You’ve no doubt heard that UW President Mark Emmert has decided to move on, as he announced in a heartfelt email to the UW community. This is a time of change, of opportunity for the University and the College. We wish President Emmert well.

In this issue, you’ll read about faculty research and awards for current students, not to mention some fantastic recognition of our alums and community partners. If you missed the last edition, you still have the opportunity to share your memories with retiring faculty members Nathalie Gehrke and Diane Carlson Jones.

The College community has begun interviewing candidates in the search for a new dean. We will keep you posted about news through the enewsletter. I also want to invite you to join the College of Education community as we celebrate the accomplishments of the 2009-2010 academic year. There are many things to acknowledge this year—retirements, awards won, honors received, and other personal and professional milestones among the faculty, staff and student body of the College of Education. The College of Education end-of-year celebration will be held Friday, June 11, 2010 from 3-6 p.m. in Grieg Garden. (In the event of inclement weather, celebration will occur in Miller Hall.)
