Alumni Turn Judges for Undergrad Award Ceremony

Kristin Boyle, Lucas Mack and My Tam Nguyen joined the Excellence in Undergraduate Communication ceremony this year to help judge the three finalists in the public speaking contest portion of the evening.

The annual event recognizes outstanding undergraduate student work in public speaking, research and journalism and is funded by the Jody Deering Nyquist endowment for Excellence in Communication and support from Pioneer Newspapers. Alumna and professor emeriti Jody Nyquist was also present.

Kristin Aitchison Boyle, '01 (B.A. Communication, B.A. Political Science)
Boyle recently left Seattle's classic rock station where she was the News Director. She still sings with the station's classic rock cover band (Spike and the Impalers), and also does voiceover work and public speaking and improv comedy with Jet City.

Lucas Mack, '04 (B.A.)
In 2008, Mack co-founded 4th Avenue Media to give clients the unique opportunity to tell their story by a broadcast journalist. Spending years in a newsroom, Lucas knows what it takes to get mass media coverage.

My Tam Nguyen, '06 (B.A.)
Nguyen works at the City of Seattle, Department of Planning and Development Community Relations, as a public relations specialist connecting communities to information on long-range urban planning initiatives, including the South Downtown area, Northgate, South Lake Union, etc.
