A Message from Dean Jerry Baldasty

Past Chair Jerry Baldasty
Dean Jerry Baldasty

Friends:
Thank you for your support for the Department of Communication—and most of all for our students—over the past six years. I’ve enjoyed getting to know many of you, and renewing ties with former students. For me, it’s time to move on to some new challenges, but I plan to keep in touch with the department, its students, and its alumni.

One of the highlights of my term as chair has been working with alumni. Your willingness to help our students—through Career Week workshops, Career Lunches, internships, and many class visits—has really enriched our program. Thanks for investing your time, energy, good ideas and resources in the Department and its students.

The Department is in great shape—last year’s state-mandated program review was a great success, and our recent journalism accreditation review was highly laudatory. The Department has superb students, great faculty—and great alumni. We benefit greatly from our partnership with you, so please continue to help as you can.

I’m not going far; my new office in The Graduate School is just one floor below the Communication office. I’ll still be teaching in the Department, too, and I look forward to seeing you at alumni events.

Thanks again,
Jerry Baldasty
