CBE Programs Rank Among Country's Best

The 2010 edition of America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools, published annually by Design Intelligence journal, ranks the University of Washington among the country’s top 20 graduate programs in architecture. DI bases its rankings on a survey of principals in 381 participating design firms, who evaluate programs based on excellence in preparing students for professional practice.

Out of 121 accredited graduate professional programs, this year’s top-ranked universities include (in order) Harvard, Yale, MIT, Columbia, University of Texas at Austin, University of Cincinnati, Cornell, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Berkeley, Washington University in St. Louis, Penn, Princeton, Clemson, Rice, the University of Oregon, Kansas State, the University of Washington, and Texas A&M.

America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools also includes rankings of the landscape architecture, interior design and industrial design programs that are most admired by deans and department heads. This year the deans' survey ranked UW’s undergraduate landscape architecture program third in the United States, "cited for its design-build program, strong urban focus, and excellent faculty."
