Distinguished Staff Award


The Distinguished Staff Award committee begins review of all nominations shortly after the submission deadline, carefully considering each nominee according to the award criteria.

Nominee congratulations and reception: The committee sends a congratulatory letter to all nominees who have met the award criteria with an invitation to attend the Distinguished Staff Awards reception in the spring. A certificate and copy of the nomination is presented to nominees at the reception, open to all UW community members and guests.

The committee then selects up to five individuals or teams to receive the annual honor along with $5000.

Awardees are notified by the Vice President of Human Resources in April and are invited to the University's Annual Awards of Excellence ceremony in June.

More About the Committee:

The Distinguished Staff Award committee is comprised of a combination of classified and professional UW staff members who represent a variety of positions and units. This diverse and well-rounded group serves staggered three-year terms in order to maintain consistency and generate new ideas. The self-governing committee is led by two co-chairs who are elected by the other committee members.
