3rd Annual UW Scavenger Hunt: A Star-Studded Success

This past Friday and Saturday, teams across all three UW campuses competed in the third annual Whole U Scavenger Hunt, completing a UW Walk of Fame that highlighted some famous and acclaimed Huskies. Not only was the campus bustling with excitement from the sunshine, but it was also the UW’s first ever Parent and Family Weekend, so it was a great time to be on campus and soak up the sun.

We partnered with GroundSpeak, a Seattle-based geocaching company, to bring you the most interactive hunt to date, featuring video clues for each location. This allowed participants to start at any part of campus and complete the hunt as effectively as possible, ending with a celebration at the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center.

Feeling like you missed out? You can still play along with some of our video clues below:

We also introduced a new Twitter hunt to highlight bonus locations with special prizes for those who were up for the challenge. For those keeping up with us on Twitter, we featured four new campus locations and clues to solve in addition to the main hunt.

A HUGE thanks to our sponsors, Evergreens Salads, UW Athletics, the University Book Store, UW Housing and Food Services, and Instacart for donating special prizes for the hunt. And another huge thanks to all teams and individuals who took on the challenge and explored our beautiful campus this weekend! As one Whole U hunter said, “I loved this event. It was a great way to build teamwork with co-workers, get some exercise and sunshine, and to learn about some of the great Husky alums that I didn’t know about.”

We hope you had as much fun as we did and enjoyed your time spent on one (or all!) of our beautiful UW campuses learning about our esteemed Huskies. We could not have pulled this event off without the help of our wonderful Ambassadors from Tacoma and Bothell, our partnership with GroundSpeak, the acclaimed Husky alumni and faculty who inspired the event, and all participants. Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in the 3rd annual Scavenger Hunt and congratulations to all finishers!
