Book Club: The UWRA Book Club is for retirees who love reading–and a good discussion.  Our book for the Friday, May 14, meeting is a 1995 Northwest favorite: Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson. The book takes shape during a murder trial on San Piedro Island, north of Puget Sound. The themes revolve around commercial fishing and old friendships, the memory of what happened to Japanese neighbors during World War II and an interracial love story, as well as the courtroom maneuverings–and suspense–of the trial. A great read! If you’re interested in joining the group, contact Connie Bourassa-Shaw at cbshaw3216@gmail.com for more details.

UWRA Member-to-Member: Tom Hinckley with Cascades Hikes for Every Ability: With decades spent in the mountains, on his own and with students, Tom has favorite hikes for a range of ability levels. This presentation will include a hike suitable for wheelchair users and one for hikers looking for distance, among others. Get your summer hiking started with inspiration from Tom’s photos, tips, and recommendations. Date, time: Friday, May 21, 10:30 a.m. Register: HERE.
