Rise in fraudulent unemployment benefit claims: Washington State Employment Security Department (WA ESD) has seen a significant rise in fraudulent claims filed on behalf of others, including UW retirees. If you receive a letter from WA ESD about an unemployment claim that you didn’t make, or otherwise suspect you are a victim of this fraud, you can report it HERE. Research into deep brain stimulation treatment accelerates: A team from UW Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and UW BioRobotics Lab is partnering with the Center for Neurotechnology and Medtronic to refine deep brain stimulation for those with essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological disorders.
