News & Events – April 29, 2020

We are proud to announce this year’s UW-UWRA Distinguished Retiree Excellence in Community Service Award: Robert Roseth, Director (retired), UW News & Information. This award recognizes Bob’s core dedication to making the world around him better whenever he can: by volunteering through Seattle Youth Tutoring, serving as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman for the State of Washington, and working with online Spanish conversation partners to help them gain the language skills and confidence they need to reach their goals. Bob’s commitment to service is longstanding and animates everything he does. While still working at UW, he served as UWRA’s president and was the founding president of the Professional Staff Organization. He was a founding member of the League of Education Voters and is past president of the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. He currently serves on UWRA’s Legislation and Benefits committee and is frequently called upon to bring his innate curiosity and good humor to UWRA panel discussions. We cannot think of a better ambassador for UW in the community, or a better model for continuing impact and engagement in retirement. Congratulations, Bob!
