UWRA EVENTS

Congratulations to Professor Emeritus and UWRA member Karl Banse, School of Oceanography, newly named as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Banse was honored for his continuing work on the ecology of the plankton, the very small algae and animals that float with the currents. Banse has continued his scientific work since becoming emeritus in 1995.

Interested in making the UW a more sustainable, carbon neutral place? Please join us to form a retiree interest group, where we can learn about what green sustainable practices the University currently has, which ones need support to continue and grow, and concrete action steps to assist the UW.  At the first meeting we will talk about what practices are already in place on campus, discuss what interests or concerns the group might have and start developing a plan for this group. Date, Time, Place: Friday, January 10th, 2020  10:30am -12pm. Gerberding Hall B70. RSVP is appreciated but not required: jmsmall@uw.edu

The UWRA Book Club’s next meeting will be on December 13 at 1:00pm.  This is the annual poetry meeting where each attendee chooses a poem, preferably no more than one page, reads it and discusses it with the group.
