Tuesday, November 7, 2017 – Mentor Future Leaders!

Engagement Opportunities


The Husky Leadership Certificate (HLC) program has a potentially very meaningful opportunity for retirees to contribute to the development of UW seniors’ and juniors’ personal leadership skills. You’re invited to serve as a mentor to a HLC student participant from January to May 2018. You’ll meet twice monthly with your mentee (a total monthly time commitment of two to four hours) to foster thinking about what leadership means to them and to give them feedback about their program portfolio which will be presented at the Spring Celebration of Service and Leadership in May 2018. The UW’s Dream Project is holding its annual Admissions Workshop Weekend is taking place this Saturday, November 11 (shifts – 8:45am-12:00pm, 12:30pm-3:45pm or ALL DAY 8:45am-3:45pm) on the Seattle Campus. Open roles include writing assistance (for applicants’ personal statements, resumes, and general application information) and financial aid application assistance. Retirement is out, new portfolio careers are in  – The Economist, July 2017 – This provides an interesting look at the way that employers around the world are beginning to reconsider older workers’ contributions to the workplace and that people of retirement age are choosing to reconceive of this stage of life.
