Support for UW Finance Transformation

As the central IT organization for the UW, UW Information Technology (UW-IT) plays a key role in supporting finance transformation. To do our work more effectively, we created the IT Finance (ITF) program to provide critical technology support and hire top-notch IT experts to ensure UWFT’s success.

UWFT is more than a systems update. It is a redesign of our finance-related policies and processes with the help of new technology. UWFT is charged with replacing the University’s many financial processes and tools so that UW will have a single financial system of record for the entire University.

This new system will manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system — to include academic, administrative and health care.

UWFT will fundamentally change the policies, processes and tools that the University uses to track, spend, collect, manage and report University finances — about $7 billion in annual revenues — and result in a transformation that enables teams across the UW to reduce risk through predictable, real-time and informed decisions.

This multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington and one of the UW’s highest administrative priorities. The outcome will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state.

About IT Finance

We are looking for dynamic partners who thrive in a fast-paced environment to help us support UWFT’s implementation. We need talented business analysts, software engineers, project managers, technology managers, senior computing specialists, and more!

This effort involves aligning work across UW-IT’s divisions and services that support administrative, student and data systems that will be impacted by Workday Financials and integrating the new system with existing systems through the UW’s enterprise integration platform. The work won’t be easy. But it will certainly be rewarding for those who accept the challenge.

We need people who will be responsible for data management and help partners across the UW prepare for the transition to the new Workday Financials system. ITF also will ensure all key revenue-managing functions of the UW remain operational.
