A New Workday is Coming

In June, the UW’s antiquated, 35-year-old payroll software system will be replaced by Workday, a modern, easy-to-use, cloud-based software system. Workday has the potential to transform the way we work at the University, making us more streamlined and employee friendly.

With this change, all 45,000+ UW employees will have easy-to-use access for routine personnel items such as earning statements and leave balances and to make personal information updates like contact information, direct deposits selections, and W-2 withholdings.

Workday offers:

  • A single, unified system for employee self-service, online benefits enrollment, and reporting. Medical centers staff will continue to use Kronos for timekeeping.
  • The ability to direct deposit pay into 3 separate bank accounts.
  • The ability to see projected time off “balance as of” date, making planning for time off easier.

Training on how to use Workday begins in May across the University. Individuals will be invited to register for training classes based on the security role they will hold in Workday.
