Chinonyerem Okoro, MD

Urology Chief Resident, PGY-6




Dr. Okoro graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He was a part of the Meyerhoff Scholarship Program at UMBC and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He obtained his M.D. from NYU School of Medicine, and during this time he also completed the NIH Medical Research Scholars Program.

As a research scholar in the Urologic Oncology Branch at the National Cancer Institute, his work focused on characterizing the role of MRI/ultrasound fusion-guided prostate biopsy for the detection and evaluation of prostate cancer. He received the NYU Excellence in Clinical Research Award and the Aetna Foundation/NMF Healthcare Leadership Award. He plans to pursue a 1 year laparoscopic/robotics fellowship upon completion of residency. Some of his hobbies include playing basketball, weightlifting, running and exploring the pacific northwest.
