Purpose of Research Café

Research Café is designed to be a welcoming, inclusive space for those with an interest in research to come together to connect and build community. Research is a fundamental part of the UW community. However, we recognize that UW is a very large research institution and that many of us would benefit from having a regular opportunity to build a smaller community on campus.

Why should I come to Research Café?

Students interested in getting involved in research are invited to come learn more about research at UW by speaking with other students who are currently involved in research and staff members who facilitate the Undergraduate Research Program; Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships, and Awards; and the Mary Gates Endowment for Students. You may even meet new friends to join you in your research journey!

Students currently involved in research are invited to come share their unique research experiences with peers. You may find it beneficial to connect with your peers to gain knowledge and perspective on the diverse research being done at UW.

Students interested in building a community are invited to join. We know how difficult it has been for students to make meaningful connections with their peers and UW faculty members due to the global pandemic, so we offers students a place to mingle with one another!

Students interested in networking are invited to come meet with students and faculty from different fields of study and UW staff members who are here to support you!

Research staff and mentors interested in meeting with students are invited to share their research and help foster an inclusive research community for the next generation of researchers!
